Keep Children Safe on the Marina
Posted on May 9th, 2011
Please protect your children, grandchildren, and young guests by having them wear life jackets while on the marina.  Although our new marina is much more stable than the old one, there is constant ship traffic that sometimes causes significant wakes.  The outer pier is very long, and coupled with the noise from passing ships and tour boats, you might not hear a splash if a child falls in.  The river is very deep, and it would be impossible for a child to climb out of the river back on to the marina.  We have installed safety ladders on the inner side of the marina, but additional safety precautions are necessary for children.  Please remember that our Rules and Regulations state children under 13 years of age shall be accompanied by an adult while in the Marina area.

OPSAIL 2012
Posted on Apr 23rd, 2011
Click on the links below for information on this exciting event celebrating the 1812 bicentennial.  It will be held in conjunction with Harborfest in June 2012. We will be right in the middle of the action, with some of the tall ships docked at NOAA and a historic encampment and warships at the Army Corps of Engineers.

Revised Pier Rules and Regulations
Posted on Nov 1st, 2010
The Pier Board of Directors approved a revision of the Pier Rules and Regulations dated October 20, 2010.  Please note that some of the rules and regulations have been modified, including (but not limited to)  #6 (Outdoor Cooking Devices), #12 (Leasing of Units), #13 (Yacht Club Rules), #19 (Fireplaces), and #26 (Water Heaters, Air Handlers, and Washer Hoses in Units).

Please take time to review this document (click on the link above for a copy), and make sure you understand all of our rules.  Landlords should give their tenants copies of the revised Rules and Regulations.

~ Welcome New Residents ~
Welcome new residents!  The Pier is a friendly community of neighbors of all ages and backgrounds, and we hope that you will enjoy living here. Our residents are willing to give you whatever assistance you need – from recommending where to eat and shop to helping you dock your boat.  We have a monthly party for all residents, and we invite you to join us and get to know your neighbors. Please see our Letter to New Residents that contains lots of useful information on living at the Pier as well as our current Rules and Regulations.  If you have any questions, please contact someone on the Board of Directors or the Covenants Committee.

~ Pier Custodian - Tina Deel ~
We are so lucky to have Tina Deel as our custodian. She keeps the Pier looking great and always has a smile for our residents. Tina’s work hours are 8-5 Monday through Friday, and she can be reached at 273-5157 (you can leave a message). Please let Tina know that you appreciate her efforts.

~ From the Webmaster ~
The Pier is finally entering the digital age with our new website!  Please go through all the features and let me know what you would like to add or change – use the Contact Us feature to send me an email. This is my first experience with organizing and developing content for a website, and it continues to be a learning experience. One thing I’ve discovered is that the site will only be as useful as we make it – we all need help keep it up to date with features, content, and photos that are timely and useful for our residents.

The first thing you need to do is register to get a password so you can see all of the content – some pages have been password protected, so they can only be viewed by our residents.

The next thing you need to do is complete your profile. It is very important that you provide an email address and a phone number. The website will use the email address you provide to send you your password if you forget it. In addition, The Board of Directors can send official Pier letters and notices via email as opposed to using regular mail, which will result in a significant cost savings to the owners. Your phone number can also be displayed in the Resident Directory on the website, which will eliminate the need to periodically update, print, and deliver the phone number listings that we have been providing for our residents. You can choose which parts of your profile that you want to have displayed in the directory.

I have written some instructions for using the website (see FAQ), and I will be adding more. If you have questions, I would appreciate it if you would use the Contact Us feature to send me an email as opposed to phone calls. I check my email frequently, and I will answer your questions as soon as I can.

Please check the Events Calendar frequently. All the meetings and events at the Pier will be posted, so you will always be able to find out the date of the next Board Meeting or party.

Don’t forget to post your recipes in the Recipe Box and your photos in the Photo Album. I have posted instructions on how to do this at the FAQ link.

The What's New box on our Home Page is a great feature that lets users search for new website content within a period of time that they specify. So instead of opening each page to see if there is some new content, just enter the number of days since you were last on the website, and you will be shown a list of what has changed on the website since that date.
